If your partner wants help…
If your partner sincerely wants to change, it is recommended that he/she seek individual counseling specifically for domestic violence. Some abusive partners will agree to couples counseling, but that may not always be the safest option when domestic violence is involved. In order for couples counseling to be effective, there must be a balance of power. In an abusive relationship the power is skewed in favor of the abuser.
In our area, one option for counseling is Panhandle Mental Health Center. They have offices in Scottsbluff and Sidney. PMHC offers reduced cost counseling services based on income. Click here to find out more about Panhandle Mental Health Center.
